Formerly the Derbyshire Association for Environmental Education
For many years SEEDS has donated
over £5000 to Derbyshire schools
to aid Environmental Projects.
The funds currently available
have enabled SEEDS to extend
its award scheme as follows:
THE AWARDS AVAILABLE:
SEEDS has established a fund to provide grant aid for pupils
and students (under 18 years) and are in full time education in schools and
colleges in Derby or Derbyshire. Awards are also available for groups or individuals
who work with these pupils and students. Students are eligible to undertake
their study up to three months after they officially leave full time
education, i.e. the summer of their 11th, 12th or 13th years.
THE AWARD SCHEME
Awards are given under the following categories: A. Environmental Projects: Awards given to assist
small scale projects which aim to study, investigate or change the
natural or built environment in the school, local area, village,
town or city or in a contrasting area further afield. B. Eco Schools Projects: Awards are given to schools
to help fund projects associated with the Eco Schools environmental
award scheme for schools. Schools must be registered onto the
Eco Schools scheme to apply for this award. C. Environmental Travel: Awards given to enable
students of 14+ years to assist in environmental projects further
afield in the UK or abroad. Awards are for individuals rather than
groups. D. Special Category: Awards can be made to groups
who are developing other environmental projects for the benefit of
Derbyshire students.
APPLICATION FORMS AND DATES:
Applications should be submitted by half term of each term. They will
be considered by the SEEDS Awards Panel in the following month. The
key criterion for categories A, B and C will be the involvement of the
students in the project or study. Applications for Category D must state
how young people will be involved in/benefit from the scheme.
McGREGOR AWARD
The McGregor Award, the most prestigious Award of the SEEDS, is made
annually in May. All projects who have received an Award during the
academic year will be considered. The main criteria are the plans for
the future development of the project and the degree of innovation shown
by the project.
