TEACHER BURSARY GUIDELINES

TEACHER AWARDS
This Award is to enable teachers to attend Environmental Courses which will improve their teaching of Environmental Issues to their pupils. Funds are available to assist with both the cost of the course and supply cover.

Both individual teachers and course providers can apply, so long as the teachers benefiting are from Derbyshire/Derby City Schools.

THE BURSARY SCHEME
Awards are given under the following categories:
A. Individual Teacher Awards : Granted to Derbyshire and Derby City teachers to enable them to attend environmental education courses in or out of the County.
B. Course Providers Awards: Available to Derbyshire and Derby City based organisations to enable them to fund places and supply cover for Derbyshire and Derby City teachers attending environmental education courses arranged by themselves.

NATURE OF AWARDS
The following amounts are guidelines of the bursaries available for each of the above categories:
a. Supply Cover only: £130
b. Fees & Supply Cover for a day: £200
c. Fee & Supply to help attend residential: up to £500 depending on the length of the course.

Please note that the bursary cannot be used for teachers to visit sites to prepare for forthcoming school visits.

APPLICATION PROCESS:
Applications will be considered by SEEDS on a rolling programme. SEEDS will aim to respond as quickly as possible to help teachers plan for courses. (Please note that should the term's budget be exceeded, the application will be deferred to the next quarterly committee meeting.)
